What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is an innovative payment network and a new kind of money.

Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system.

How does Bitcoin work?

From a user perspective, Bitcoin is nothing more than a mobile app or computer program that provides a personal Bitcoin wallet and allows a user to send and receive bitcoins with them. This is how Bitcoin works for most users.

Behind the scenes, the Bitcoin network is sharing a public ledger called the "block chain". This ledger contains every transaction ever processed, allowing a user’s computer to verify the validity of each transaction. The authenticity of each transaction is protected by digital signatures corresponding to the sending addresses, allowing all users to have full control over sending bitcoins from their own Bitcoin addresses. In addition, anyone can process transactions using the computing power of specialized hardware and earn a reward in bitcoins for this service. This is often called "mining". Who created Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the first implementation of a concept called "cryptocurrency", which was first described in 1998 by Wei Dai on the cypherpunks mailing list, suggesting the idea of a new form of money that uses cryptography to control its creation and transactions, rather than a central authority. The first Bitcoin specification and proof of concept was published in 2009 in a cryptography mailing list by Satoshi Nakamoto. Satoshi left the project in late 2010 without revealing much about himself. The community has since grown exponentially with many developers working on Bitcoin.

Satoshi’s anonymity often raised unjustified concerns, many of which are linked to misunderstanding of the open-source nature of Bitcoin. The Bitcoin protocol and software are published openly and any developer around the world can review the code or make their own modified version of the Bitcoin software. Just like current developers, Satoshi’s influence was limited to the changes he made being adopted by others and therefore he did not control Bitcoin. As such, the identity of Bitcoin’s inventor is probably as relevant today as the identity of the person who invented paper.

Who controls the Bitcoin network?

Nobody owns the Bitcoin network much like no one owns the technology behind email. Bitcoin is controlled by all Bitcoin users around the world. While developers are improving the software, they can’t force a change in the Bitcoin protocol because all users are free to choose what software and version they use. In order to stay compatible with each other, all users need to use software complying with the same rules. Bitcoin can only work correctly with a complete consensus among all users. Therefore, all users and developers have a strong incentive to protect this consensus.

Is Bitcoin really used by people?

Yes. There is a growing number of businesses and individuals using Bitcoin. This includes brick and mortar businesses like restaurants, apartments, law firms, and popular online services such as Namecheap, WordPress, and Reddit. While Bitcoin remains a relatively new phenomenon, it is growing fast. At the end of August 2013, the value of all bitcoins in circulation exceeded US$ 1.5 billion with millions of dollars worth of bitcoins exchanged daily.

Episode 5: Princess Shola and the village boy

EPISODE 5

The sun was almost setting and John and his mum hurriedly packed up their tools and started their long trek back home. On their way the thought of stopping at the palace came to his mind. He was hungry and tired and all he wanted to do was to go home, have a warm bath, eat something and get some rest but he coulJohn woke disobey the princess.
 It was considered disrespectable in the village to disobey royalty and was punishable by 90 strokes on the back in front of the whole village and John wasn't ready for such. As they approached the palace johns mum reminded John whom had already forgotten.
When they arrived the palace he handed over the basket to his mom who continued home while he (John) went to see the princess. John entered the palace, passed by the throne and headed to where the young princess's lived.


The palace was very big and had lots of huts and each hut was inhabited by individuals. The palace was separated into 3 section. The kings chambers where the king and his chiefs met, the royal quarters where the princess's, Prince's and Queen's lived and workers chamber where the palace guards and maidens lived. John walked toward the princess chambers which was separated from the other huts. He met a guard who took him to see princess Candy. As they approach John felt his stomach rumbled due to the intense hunger he felt, he walked into the well lit hut. Sitting on a wooden chair was princess Candy, she had put on some make up and and the maidens werw doing her hair. John admitted within him how beautiful she looked but not as beautiful as the love of his life princess Shola. She offered him a sit. John carefully sat down.

The princess greeted John... "John how are u?" She said sending the maids out of the room john replied looking at the maids exit "am fine princess,"
She walked towards john and pulled a nearby stool. "John" she said "I've been looking at you and observing you in this village ever since I was young and I've always liked you. The reason I called u hear was to ask u if u like me too" John stared at her in shock. e couldn't believe this, had the princes just admitted she had feelings for him? Was this for real? John knew he had to say something fast because the princess was already staring into his eyes. John cleared his throat which had run dry on getting what the princess had to say. "Your Highness I like u too but am in love with someone else". The princess stared at him with a sad look on her face " who is this girl if I may ask and John said "Your elder sister, princess Shola!" Candy shouted "What?!"

John had just told princess Candy she loved her sister and this got her very angry. This was because Princess Shola was her enemy. They never got along since childhood because it seemed every man or boy in the village preferred princess Shola over her, princess Candy and she was jealous. She calmed down and decided to keep it calm. John who was no standing up due to the princess's reaction was now frightened. Princess Candy calmed down and cleared her throat. "John sit down" she said calmly "what does my sister have that I don't have?". John was scared to answer. He didn't want to hurt the princesses feeling  the more after the way she reacted. " I have always loved her" John said with a smile on his face "She just has this....." Stop! Just stop!. He was suddenly interrupted by princess Shola who was now in tears. Just stop okay, I've heard enough...you can leave now... Just go. John stood still not knowing what to do. Princess Shola called for a guard to escort John home.

 As he walked out of the palace he kept thinking if what had happened and what will happen next but was interrupted by his stomach which was already playing some tunes indicating the intensity of hunger he felt. John increased his footsteps and as they approached their compound. The guard turned around and returned to the palace. John got home and his mom had already made dinner (bush meat stew and pounded yam) John ate to his fill, tool a quick bath and set off to bed.

FREE!! BROWSING WITH ORANGE CAMEROON USING PSIPHON HANDLER

Well this is another one from moi. All of us are fans of MTN and ORANGE Cameroon aren't we? I guess you just yelled a big YASSSS!!!!

Anyway today I have a FREE browsing trick for you guys and it works with ORANGE CAMEROON using the PSIPHON 3. So am going to walk you through the steps below. Remember u don't have to be an expert to do this. The trick works with PC but if you are a mobile user don't worry i have a trick for you too but will blog it later.

Follow the steps below to:

1) DOWNLOAD the PSIPHON 3 here then select the PC version (  the file is only about 3mb or 4).

2) After you've downloaded psiphon 3, open it by double tapping it.

3) After opening the app go to settings on the side panel and open SETTINGS.

4a) EXPAND the Upstream Proxy panel and then change it or input the following
            HOSTNAME: 200.229.84.57
            PORT: 8080
  b) click on apply changes.

5) IF the do not use upstream proxy is checked then uncheck it and insert the above.

6) Connect your orange key to your laptop or PC and connect it. Also press on the connect button on psiphon 3 and wait till it connects (U NEED TO BE PATIENT).

7) VOILA!!! You can now browse for free.

Note: The connection is not too stable and using the above proxy you cannot download anything so to be able to download you can try this proxy HostName: 41.204.87.10 Port: 8080. Then go to local proxy ports and expand it (still found under settings) and input under the HTTP/HTTPS: 8080.
I didn't put this one because it has stopped working for me. U may be the lucky one.

John slowly turned around and there was the princesses kid sister..  Here name was  Candy. She was beautiful but not as beautiful as here elder sister Shola and she was also young and her voice sounder much more like that of her elder sister. John tot.... John was disappointed and answered in a low tone "yes ur royal Highness... Good morning"
"Good morning John" she said.

 His mom also greeter her with respect but she cared less about her because she was more interested in John that his mom but she answered anyway.
  "Where are u headed to John?" She asked "am heading to the farm" John looking down. He had almost given her a sarcastic answer since it was obvious they were headed for the farm but he had to respect her as the princes she was. "John I'll like to c you this evening" john now looking surprised asked "What for ur highness, hope nothing is wrong", " No! Just come and see me when u are on ur way home from the farm" she said with a smile. John answered reluctantly "Yes ur highness, I'll try my best" John said. "And one more thing John, don't be late" Princess Candy said this and walked away. John and his mom continued their journey to the farm, Johns mum had notice what had happened and teaser him a little but John was less disturbed by his mother's words and so all the way John kept on wondering what Princess Candy could possibly want to tell him. After 40mins of walking they finally arrived the farm, had a little rest and commenced working. It was going to be a long tiring day John thought.

The Princess and the Boy episode 3

EPISODE 3:

Since it was a Saturday, John knew they had to go to his mothers farm which was located a few kilometers towards the mountains in the outskirts of the village. John went to his hurt in search of his cutlass which he uses whenever they go farming and when he found it, he sat down in the yard where he usually sharpens his cutlass before he sets off to the farm and carefully sharpened it.

John's mother called out for John... He knew it was time to go to the farm. John hurriedly ran towards his mother's voice and when he got there...he helped his mum carry the basket and they set off for the farm.

On their way to the farm they had to pass by the palace and in this palace lived a beautiful princess and her name was Shola. She was the most beautiful girl in the village, with long hair and a smile that sent stars flying across the sky, she also had a beautiful voice and whenever she sang all the men in the village would gather around showering her with gifts and praising her for her talent and everyman in the village including John wanted here to himself but John knew he had no chance with her. He was just a poor boy living with his poor farmer parents who didn't have enough money to pay for some basic needs talkless of pay the princesses bride price. All these thoughts passed thru John's mind as they passed through the palace courtyard

As they passed by heard a female voice called out his name with what sounded like the voice of  princess Shola. Was he day dreaming? Was this really the princess's voice. John slowly turned around to see who it was and to his greatest surprise...it was...
